THE LATEST FROM HiT

Help in Thursley AGM 31 October 2018

The Help in Thursley Annual General Meeting was held on 31st October 2018. The Chairman and Treasurer presented reports on the activities and accounts of the organisation in the previous eighteen months. The Management Committee for the forthcoming year was elected and after the formal business was concluded there was a lively discussion on volunteers’ experiences of the scheme, what went well and what issues and problems had been experienced.

One issue raised was the number of people, who would really benefit from using the transport service of HiT, who were reluctant to ask since they didn’t want to bother other people. This was generally agreed to be a problem by most people present and it was agreed to remind all volunteers that they should encourage all of their friends and neighbours who might benefit from the transport services offered by HiT that they were here to be used. This would be supplemented by personal one to one contact and also followed up by personal letters from the Management Committee to specific individuals

That was followed by an excellent presentation by Councillor Jenny Else on Dementia Awareness, the work of Dementia Friends and the steps we all can take to make life easier for people with dementia.
